Flowers Through The Ages

This is a two day event with floral arrangements for the public to view. They will have many beautiful arrangements to see along with floral workshops for everyone to enjoy. They will have a trading table with floral items that can be used to assist in arrangements.

There will be raffles and prizes.

Our workshop will be A Himmeli Geometric Structure”.

Himmeli originates from the Swedish word for sky or heaven, and a Himmeli Geometric Structure is based on a traditional Finnish Decoration.

TIME:             9:30am for 10:00 start.

COST:             $20

Morning:      Making Himmeli structure

Materials Supplied: Repurposed plastic straws & jewellery wire approx 24 gauge.

BYO: Toolbox with your floral glue, small test tubes (about the size sold with Singapore orchids ), small pliers, small number of flowers, foliage to decorate structure, container/ base of your choice.

Afternoon: use your creativity to decorate your made structure

Accreditation Day

Below are a couple of designs from Noreen.  Due to illness Noreen was unable to attend the Accreditation Day, but has fulfilled her requirement with the following designs:

This morning at the Victorian Floral Art Assn. workshop we created a monochromatic collage.  We were unable to spray the collage at the workshop, to achieve the same colour, but learnt the use of form and texture to provide variety and interest.

Below are the collages designed by our members today.

Monochromatic Collage (One colour, its tints, tones, and shades)

TIME:             9:30am for 10:00 start.

COST:             Entry $15.00 plus Materials $15 ($30)

Morning:      An Exercise in Maximising Textural Contrast.

Materials Supplied: Unpainted pine stand. Corflute backing board

50cm x 15cm. Brown craft paper to cover backing board.

BYO: Dried horticultural material e.g. seed pods, leaves, pieces of bamboo. Some examples can be seen in the photo attached.  Paper covered wire. Double sided sticky tape. Sticky dashes (these will be available to purchase). Floral glue. Toolbox.

There will NO spraying on the day.

Afternoon: Hair Piece Base. Chenille stick base for a head garland and other wearable art.

Materials Supplied: Chenille sticks will be supplied to make a base.
